Warlingham Christmas Lights – the official start to Christmas
Saturday November 16th from 3.00pm will be the official start of the festive season. That is when the Warlingham Christmas Lights grand switch-on begins with the opening of Christmas markets in the Church Hall and Village Hall, a barbecue, mulled wine bar and children’s rides by the Village Hall, on The Green and School Common.
Entertainment will include choirs, the annual children’s lantern parade, Patches the Elf and the build up to the grand switch-on at 5pm.
Between 3.00pm and 4.45pm very special tickets will be on sale in a raffle with just one prize; the honour of switching on the lights and becoming a celebrity for the evening.
As always, when he is not leading the lantern parade, Father Christmas will be in his grotto to listen to children’s Christmas wishes and handing out presents. Santas Grotto is free, but there will be donation buckets for those who are able to contribute.
The lights, which will be even bigger and better than last year, are financed by money raised on the night, a grant from Warlingham Parish Council, sponsorship and contributions from Warlingham businesses. Many of the traders around The Green will be staying open late and doing something special on the evening.
If you can help in any way with setting up, clearing away or helping to marshal the Lantern Parade, please contact Wendy on 07504 101639.
